During Black Friday 2021, Cards Against Humanity paid thousands of people $5 each to tweet at Hellmann’s official account, sharing a falsified photo I shot on a vintage camera of a product called Clam-O-Naise. #BringBackCLAMONAISE trended on Twitter despite never having existed, until now. Since Hellman’s wouldn’t give the people what they wanted, Cards Against Humanity decided to actually make Clam-O-Naise, releasing it along with a line of merch in 2022.
We updated the branding from the original, faux-vintage packaging we had created to a playful and still-retro identity. The jar was filled with actual clam-flavored mayo and a pack of 30 vacuum-sealed cards. To support the product rollout, a line of lifestyle merch was produced and we designed a Clam-O-Naise website.
