The Chicago Board Game Cafe exists as an immersive space where visitors come to eat and play games in a whimsical indoor courtyard. We worked with the House Theater of Chicago to build out the cafe, tying in the brand throughout the space and consulting on interior design stylings. The result is surreal and fantastical, like you’re dining on the set of a play.
We created the overarching CBGC brand, along with several distinct brands for different “storefronts” within the cafe. I created a series of illustrations that nod to the fantasy of the space and competition of tabletop games, with a two-headed griffin as the centerpiece and alternate logo for the cafe. Paradise Vendors is the restaurant in the space; the separate brand commits to the idea that visitors are entering into a small town square and dining at one of its businesses.
